I thought it may be a good idea to see which bike set-ups members have...

I have an '08 Specialized Rockhopper Disc - I added CB Eggbeaters (SL's) and a few scratches due to taking a crash course in how to fly a bike! :-)

Other than that it's standard at the moment...

I'm really impessed with the bike tho - very light compared to bikes I'm used to, I've never had hydraulic disc brakes before either - take a bit of getting used to... over the bars a few times at first.

I'm on.....
An early 80's Olmo Road bike with Campag throughout that's as pretty as a picture.
A Scott Speedster S40 which is basically my winter bike as it's rock hard and quite an aggressive seating position-all the better for the twitchy wet weather stuff that's a mix of Shimano 105 with Mavic brakes.
A Fuji Roubaix 1.0 with 105 and Ultegra.Nice quick training/commuting bike.
A Specialized S-Works E5 with 105 and Pro-Lite Wheels.Light and QUICK!!

AND

A 1955 Raleigh stepover which is in original working condition(got the old Rod brakelines!!).That's a bike that I just had to have when someone offered me it for £60.

So yeah.I have a problem.I only have one pair of legs.

Two years ago I decided to try cycling again after 25 years or so away from it.

Ended up just buying a cheap hybrid to see how it went and not waste too much money if I decided it wasn't for me. Bought a Ventura Crossroads which is not great but has been ultra reliable and served me well (not that I've covered loads of miles compared to people on here).

Probably next summer I'll look at upgrading and offload the Ventura to my nephew.

Hello all
Recently back into cycling after a 12 year break.
Wanted to use cycling and regular gym sessions as a way to get fit and lose the weight i piled on.

Went for a 2012 Fuji Nevada 2.0.
I was interested in this 29er style and set up.

Changed the standard grips for a set of the ergon GP3s.
Also a more comfortable gel padded saddle from halfords (bike hut).

Set up so far is standard but would like to upgrade the standard suntour front fork.

I've got a Trek 3500, I keep saying I am going to but a new bike but to be honest it's an old faithfull, highly reliable and has done far too many miles for me too remember. I absolutely love my bike, i've had it 7 years now and other than new tyres and innertubes, a new back axle, replaced gear cables and break blocks there is absolutely nothing wrong with the frame and it's my pride and joy. I loved the fact that it has ridged forks (something you can't get too much these days) as well as block breaks rather than disc brakes, it's a dream to ride.

Hi

I have just bought the 2013 Specialized Crosstrail Hybrid (disc brakes et al) from Edinburgh Bike Co-op, these guys were very helpful and I am delighted with the bike.

Just published a route from Penicuik to West Linton and back, around 19 miles and I have been doing that twice a week for the last few weeks.

Loving the freedom to just do it and feelign the benefits already.....trying to kick a smoking habit and this is really helping.

If anyone has any good routes in Midlothian let me know.

cheers

Hi guys,

We have had our bikes stolen from Ringwood. They are an Orange Crush and Orange EVO8.

The Organe Crush was the 2010 model in orange, has standard kit but both disks are different.

The Orange EVO8 was the 2009 model in white, has a Selle Italia white seat, white grips on the handle bars.

Both bikes have a set of cateyes fitted.

If you come across either of them please could you let us know. We will be happy to give a reward also.

Please could you forward this email on if you know other people in the trade

Kind regards,

Sam and Justyna

Hi Matt,
well I've just joined this site and have just added my first route which is my work commute.
As for my bike, well I have very old and very customized Marin, but realized it's time to replace it.So I've gone for a Cube Reaction GTC SL,and I've been lucky enough to get a 2013 model.I tried a mates Cube (LTD Race 2012),and I loved the feel of it,It's tight, light and very fast so as a result I went out and bought one.

I'll let you know how I get on with it,as it's due to be delivered early next week.

I built up an unbranded carbon from distant China. Six months on and it's going strong. In fact, it's awesome.

Hi. I got a Trek 7200 hybrid first last year 2012 (Had been using an old Mtb fro mthe late 1990's before after not cycling for about 40 years) as though it wiould suit me for popping about town then after the bug had bitten again properly, I saw the cycling active mag with a review of the decatheon Btwin Triban 3 and as it had somewhat rave review. Its only just over 10.05 kilos Its so light compare the the Trek 7200 as got all the kit on that for touring and shopping.

I threw cuation to the wind and got one online the best £314.00 I spent, Ok there are much higher spec bikes but at that price I just had to Ok I put Shimarno PDA520 SPD pedals on it as the one that came with it were not up to much and added a Cateye
cycle computor.
I am now thinking that i might well ugrade to a carbon well I can dream can't I as at 65 i want to keep as active as possible.
regards Antnee

Got myself a Bianchi Methanol XC-R a few months ago.. added XTR trail pedals to it and i'm loving it all. Ex demo bike so got it for a good price from the local bike shop.

From a road/track background from some years ago, but MTB'ing is great fun and it's great to be back on a bike. Hydraulic brakes are fantastic as is the rest of the XTR kit; just waiting for my LBS to supply dates for a maintenance workshop day as the bike needs better upkeep than maybe it's getting right now!!!!!

Just bought a Specialized Tricross Sport. Previously marketed as a Cyclocross by Specialized they now say that it's a Freeroad bike whatever that means...

From what I've seen so far it's largely a road bike with the ability for light off-roading (pavements, tow paths) which is just what I need for my commute to work. I can then take it for a spin in the country lanes of Middlesex at the weekend and it is a huge improvement on my previous bike, a Claude Butler Explorer 200 Hybrid.
