I thought it may be a good idea to see which bike set-ups members have...

I have an '08 Specialized Rockhopper Disc - I added CB Eggbeaters (SL's) and a few scratches due to taking a crash course in how to fly a bike! :-)

Other than that it's standard at the moment...

I'm really impessed with the bike tho - very light compared to bikes I'm used to, I've never had hydraulic disc brakes before either - take a bit of getting used to... over the bars a few times at first.

Got myself a Bianchi Methanol XC-R a few months ago.. added XTR trail pedals to it and i'm loving it all. Ex demo bike so got it for a good price from the local bike shop.

From a road/track background from some years ago, but MTB'ing is great fun and it's great to be back on a bike. Hydraulic brakes are fantastic as is the rest of the XTR kit; just waiting for my LBS to supply dates for a maintenance workshop day as the bike needs better upkeep than maybe it's getting right now!!!!!

Just bought a Specialized Tricross Sport. Previously marketed as a Cyclocross by Specialized they now say that it's a Freeroad bike whatever that means...

From what I've seen so far it's largely a road bike with the ability for light off-roading (pavements, tow paths) which is just what I need for my commute to work. I can then take it for a spin in the country lanes of Middlesex at the weekend and it is a huge improvement on my previous bike, a Claude Butler Explorer 200 Hybrid.

I recently bought my first bike to try and shift a few extra pounds.
After looking the the Internet and visiting various shops I opted in the end for a bmc sportelite alivio/Deore
I must admit I have had loads of fun on it.

The brake pads are new and soon I will have new bar tape this bike wasn't looked after very well by its previous owner I bought it for £159 and has cost £230 to fix I hope when I finish remaking it that I will be able to sell it and get my money back and maybe the £599 or close enough to buy this years galaxy but for now its a good bike did a Cornwall loop of 150 miles it was good next year I will do llangadog in wales to Bournemouth, 190 miles also I have a pannier rack which is original and a set of aldi OWN BRAND panniers they were £15 and r OK they are Velcro they have 10 straps to hold them on so I just have to make sure weight is equal all round good bike

Hi all

I am new here.

My bike is a Vipper Xteam. The hard tail I bought in probikeshop. It is light and weighs only 1.5 kgs. Take a fork Rock Shox Reba 100mm and two wheels "GURPIL" double sealed bearing (unbreakable). Transmission X7 and tubeless tires MAXXIS. Power and handlebar Axis4pro Ritchey.

When I am living in Uk, I have plans to sell my bike and buy a dual suspension.
See you soon!

Okay.

I'm 60 years old, new to cycling and this site.

In October I bought a used Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE)Sprint, it's a recumbent tadpole trike.

The two front brakes are Avid BB7 discs, with a Avid V brake on the rear as a parking brake. 20 inch wheels currently with Schwalbe Citizen tyres. Rear suspension.

It comes as standard fit with SRAM X5 9 speed grip shifts, which I may change to bar ends shortly. and a ICE custom Capreo 9-32 speed cassette. The gear range is 15.7"-103.5" (1.255m -8.28m), whatever that means.

Just clocked up my first 500 miles since buying it on the 18th Oct. Yay !

John

I'm 62 and bought my first new bike 2 yrs ago, Raleigh Royal tourer, love it. Best thing I've ever done. Had to give up plumbing after 47 years coz my knees are knackered but I can still cycle, in fact cycling is helping me repair my knees, I think!

I got a very minimal and cheap set-up but i still get a good speed of around 30-35 mph on the flats down grimsby road with no wind. I have an apollo radar, 14 kg in weight, 18 speed shimano TZ gears (3 on the front and 6 on the back). It has a front disk brake and a back V-brake. I run on 26x2.10 tyres. Even though it's a pretty cheap bike at £150. It still has got me to Barton 5 times in just under 1 hour. I prefer to long distance cycling and the furthest i have done is 82 mile ride through scunthorpe.
