I have an '08 Specialized Rockhopper Disc - I added CB Eggbeaters (SL's) and a few scratches due to taking a crash course in how to fly a bike! :-) Other than that it's standard at the moment... I'm really impessed with the bike tho - very light compared to bikes I'm used to, I've never had hydraulic disc brakes before either - take a bit of getting used to... over the bars a few times at first. |

It's not too bad weight wise but the gearing could be better, so going to try to fit a smaller inner chain ring (30) to see if that helps. Got an old Claud Butler 531 framed road bike that i've built up with modern kit on which is nice to poddle about on. |

Joined: 15 Aug 2011 Posts: 7 Bike: | Hi there. Another newbie to this excellent forum. My current steed is a 2008 Specialized XC Expert which i had to purchase after my beloved stumpjumper elite with chromed frame was nicked from work by some low life thieving b@$^%rd even though it had 3 locks!! Luckily I was able to claim it back on the house insurance even though I explained it to them several times that it was nicked from work. Result!! The Spesh XC Expert is well light & dead chuckable which makes it a very lively seat of the pants ride which is how I like it I also have an old crock for a work steed now. Hand built Barracuda Curacao is what it says amongst the scratches on the frame but as I bought it for only £30 from a bloke at work im not bothered about it getting dirty. Cheers now Carl |

Currently got a Felt F5C with lots of carbon fibre eye candy all the way from the handlebars to the cranks running on Dura Ace running gear. Then for getting muddy I have the not very subtle lime green Focus Killer Bee with lovely XT and XTR running gear on it. Oh yeah and some bling Chrome and Gold V12 pedals. Perfect until you slip and they rip all the skin off your shins grrrrrr |

New rear wheel needed Two tyres wanted Cables all around Something seriously wrong with the headset too. Defo not worth spending some hard earned cash on it Anyway to cheer myself up I bought off ebay this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Very-Rare-Retro-Specialized-Hardrock-23-Bike-/290600026125?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item43a91c800d Picked it up the other day & had my 1st ride on it today I reckon its an 88 model & for the price & year I consider it a bargain & in excellent condition. It rides superb too Very retro I would like to get the odd chips on the paint work done some time in the future. Anyone know roughly how much this would cost me? Carl |

Last yr I bought a specialized sirrus elite and although I love it and have done 2500 miles on it in 18 months commuting and social riding I have also had a load of problems with the bottom bracket and a unhelpful bike shop in getting it fixed!! But now after its warranty has run out I've paid for it to be fixed by a smaller friendlier local shop and so far so good! I've now also bought a Matts merida mtb because I was missing out on rough rides on the sirrus. Both bikes were bought through the cyclescheme which I recomend to any one who is on a budget. |

Have cyled 1500+ miles on it and still looks like new. My second bike is an Apollo TDF 7075 Alloy frame nice and light I use for winter riding, I changed the seat post to a carbon blade and fitted profile design aero bars (also on the San Remo) and wolber rins on Shimmano hubs. |

The Sirrus is a great commuter bike but i've had loads of problems with the bottom bracket which I tried several times to sort out through warranty but to no avail! I have now paid a small local private shop to look at it and touchwood i'm sorted. I've knocked up 2500 miles ish after 18mths of doing a 12 mile round trip daily on the sirrus and hope to get a good few miles in on the merida which is a new brand to me but so far so good!! matt |

Love the Trek1000, but it's not a CR1! Love the CR1 but it's not a Madone! Have used the Trek1000 for general road riding(all year round as I don't have a car), commuting and touring(5 weeks camping). A truly wonderful, versatile, practical and durable piece of kit. I intend using the CR1 with a trailer for long tours now though after meeting a Belgian guy towing a Bob with an older OCLV model in France this summer........It'll be a lot easier playing on those cols now :) |
