Joined: 17 Jul 2009 Posts: 9 Bike: | i m going to go from nottingham up the trent and mersey canal and back again in either 3 or four days,a little over 200 miles,this will be my longest trip yet,i want to camp along the way out in the open,any tips on what kind of tent i will need and any other tips which maybe usefull |

Joined: 01 May 2009 Posts: 19 Bike: My Profile | check 1) waterways site i think its called waterscape 2) apply to brit waterways for permit to cycle free you just phone and they send one 3) see trent mersey canal section on above site 4) some canals have gates to stop motorbikes entering onto the towpath which make it difficult to pass for a bicycle so you do need to check the section on the above site they can be difficult to negotiate with panniers , some you have to lift the bike over not easy with a loaded bike . 5) recommend a gelert solo tent cheap and light 6) let us know how the route is . |
