well its been a very wet summer & there is a chill in the air up here in Scotland i was wondering what sort of layering systems you will be using during the winter to keep you comfy on your ride,s i no most will have it sorted but to those new to cycling it be nice for them to no what work,s & what doesn't i feel a lot of people put there bike in the shed because they think its too cold to be out riding but with the right gear on it can be joy to be out & about in the cold what do you lot use to combat the cold .

Best thing I ever bought was a cheap winter soft-shell cycling jacket.

Whilst too warm for a wind free autumn it excels in winter and on windier days.
I like my merino layers and all that, but it is that jacket that keeps the real cold out

yes i like my merino wool to be my base layer too i use a montane mountain smock
when its very cold has plenty of vents for when your running hot keeps you warm even
wet its a soft shell too i do a lot of mountaineering so can use most of my clothing for
biking .
