hi all,
i've posted a couple of times here before about planning my non-stop jogle trip in june 2011 and always received helpful responses.

I just wondered if anyone had any pointers for training over the winter months? i'm aiming to complete the ride in 50-60 hours so i want to come out the other side of winter as fit as possible before getting into the serious preparation in the run up to june.

is it a case of spending as many miles on the bike as possible or are there other exercises/ training methods i can use? i've heard different things as to whether weight training is of any use? some say it just bulks you up too much without adding much to your strength and endurance on the bike while others say it will improve strength and will delay the onset of fatigue. any ideas?

at the moment i do a mix of swimming, weights and cycling, but not seeing particularly large gains.

does anyone know any decent sites that advertise cycling events as well by any chance? i live down in kent and want to get some events booked in for next year which i can use to build up the mileage.

thanks all.

if you want to have a look at what i'm doing check out www.richardwestover.com

i think your best bet for tried and tested successful training tips is to contact Ben Rockett, who just completed what you are planning - twice in under six days!

he has a face book page, and a website

http://www.rockettrides.com/

can't see anyone here being as up to date on hardcore endurance training as Ben
