Budget racing bike

It's mainly a weekend thing,some times i'll cycle to a bed and breakfasts. The most mileage i'll done in a weekend is 150 miles,some trails are easy others killers. I wonder if you notice the difference in speed going from mountain bike to racer,ie it like having a turbo fitted. I'm sure my mountain bikes faster than the racer i had as a kid,it just shows you how technology improved bikes. |

Joined: 27 Apr 2008 Posts: 1 Bike: My Profile | Ade, I don't think the weight would come too much into it as I'm around the same & have had no problems with either of my racers (relatively inexpensive Giant OCR3 & SCR2) In terms of speed & ride difference, I definately notice an average speed difference of around 3.5mph on comparable surfaces in favour of the raoad/racer. I've always been an advocate of mountain bikes, so this was a great bonus to me. Fredsmith was spot on, there are normally plenty of racres on Ebay with a good mix of new & used.
