I'm cycling next weekend through Scottish highlands and have to pack a tent and sleeping bag, putting quite a load on my bike. I might be able to squeeze it and stack it and attach all my equipment on the rear, but I'm wondering if there would be an advantage to forking out some money to set up my bike for front panniers. |

I think i'd still put 2/3 of the weight in the back though otherwise steering is going to get sluggish! alternatively, looking at the recent weather, pack a credit card and stay at a B&B! when we went coast to coast in that neck of the woods, we stayed at a bunkhouse in Weem (near Aberfeldy) this would be a change to your route, but the South side of Loch Tay is a far more pleasant road than the A85.... the Clachaig at the foot of Glencoe also has bunkhouses |
