Joined: 22 May 2009 Posts: 11 Bike: My Profile | Hi all, I have just got into cycling and am loving it large. I have a mountain bike. I have recently gone part time at work ( a 4 day week, Yipee) and want to spend some time getting to know my country. I though I may do a bit of island hoping with the bike. Does anyone have any advice on pannier bags. There seems to be so many different types. They seem to vary in cost as well. Is it a case of "you get what you pay for" or are there adavantages to different styles? Pam, |

I had 2 large panniers on my bike and they were packed and really heavy, they were ok for my journey across wales but i do think they wont last long, get ones with strong clip ons and get covers incase it rains. mine were from halfords. |

Joined: 03 Jan 2010 Posts: 10 Bike: My Profile | Hi rosey advice on pannier ect try 2 web address & follow the links www.adventure-cycling-guide.co.uk for info touringcyclist.co.uk good chat shop I just get mid-range for they soon can get ripped Halfords pannier do have probs as agingerfreak pointed out the metal clips bend off the carrier, so, I just fixed them to wire hangers then just hang the lot onto the carrier in the morning. That way they ride 5in lower giving much better stability; 10k miles & still going! Not waterproofed is no big deal they all leak from time 2 time I just put most things in big freezer reseal bags that way you can see what you have got out!
