They are expensive, but here in Cambridge and with five bikers in my family, I was having to repair punctures several times a month. Each puncture takes 20-40 minutes to repair, plus possible replacement tube cost.

Finally, I forked out big bucks and bought eight puncture resistant tyres (but not for my 6 year old).

I have been very successful and very happy with the puncture resistant tyres. I have them now for 18+ months and have not had any more puncture problems.

Just out of interest has anyone used this sort of barrier before: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Zefal_Tyre_Liners_for_MTB,_Road_and_Hybrid_Bikes/5360043677/

I'm just wondering 1)if it does it's job 2)if it affects the ride (ie. make it feel like a runflat on a car) because I'm guessing you can transfer them to new tyres when they need replacing, in which case they'd work out far cheaper than puncture resistant tyres in the long run.

Thanks
