| Hi Joe,
You must obviously be a lot fitter and ambitious than I was, to undertake Malin to Mizen on a bicycle without support. A bunch of us - 6 cyclists and support van driver - undertook this relatively tough, 4-day exercise in August 2011 from Mizen Head to Malin Head, as a charity run for the IMNDA. The chosen direction and time of year was researched as being the most ideal with the south-westerly as our tail wind all the way up. My involvement was partly due to my desire to photograph the event and as a "last hurrah" of a fairly recumbent, cycling pastime. And boy, was I glad to have a support van on hand when during the burn periods. Managed to complete 400 kms of the full 630 km while sitting out the "off" road kms in the van, taking photographs of the other, souped-up bikies! But it was a memorable 4 days of my entire 60 years(50 of which were)in the saddle.
We raised in excess of €3000.00 for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
You can view the slideshow of this event here: MizMal Charity Cycle.WMV (file://RAE-PC/Users/Rae/Dropbox/Videos/MizMal%20Charity%20Cycle.WMV)
Wishing you fair weather in May.
Rae.

My email address is miranda.leppla@gmail.com, please feel free to inbox me.

| Hi Kpc, glad there is somebody else as mad as myself. I have developed a rotator cuff injury which means I cant go until Aug/Sept time. Have you decided on a route yet, where do you plan to stay B&B's tent, have you sorted getting Malin Head for the start.

| Ireland is the land of the B&B. cycle as far as you are happy doing. You will always find a B&B .....almost certainly with availability. Any problem.....pop into the pub. Before you drunk your first drink the bar person would have made a few calls and your accommodation, meal etc will be sorted!
If you need a choice of route let me know.
All the best

This thread has been a great help in making my mind up to do this.
Did lejog last July for Marie Curie Cancer Care and I'm looking to do the same in Ireland.
Although the info on this is very good I was wondering if anybody has links, books or general pointers for me.
Much appreciated.
