Hi everyone,

I'm planning to cycle from Dundee to Fort William on 22th of June. The initial idea is to cycle to Fort William then take a hostel and next morning climb to Ben Nevis and come back by train. Would anyone like to join me? or maybe someone cycled this route and can give some advice? Thanks.

Assuming your route is Dundee-Perth-crianlarich-fort Bill. Have ridden most of it, other than the section from bridge of orchy to corran. Didn't particularly enjoy the main Dundee-Perth road though lovely & fast. Traffic can get a bit intense on the narrower sections above crianlarich & it's always a pain on the long slog up from lochearnhead. From memory, the stretch between corran & fort Bill was a bit hairy with the mad rushing brigade too. Why do they rush through such stunning scenery? Wouldn't put me off the ride though, and a cracking whole day ride with fair weather, the longest day of your life with foul. Best of luck!

Oh, one other piece of advice. Make sure you get your return rail journey sorted. You'll have to book your bike, and though you might get lucky on the day, being a midweek day, I'd be getting it sorted a.s.a.p. as, with a limited number of bike spaces, coupled with a very limited service, you might find yourself stranded. I made this mistake once, and luckily, the guard 'bent the rules' slightly, otherwise I'd have been stuck! You might get away with booking a day ahead, when you arrive. Of course, you may have organised this already....
