Help planning a cycling route in Scotland - Eilean Donan

I have about 2 weeks, and would like to combine cycling and sightseeing (so as not to be cycling all day, every day). I was thinking of starting with the route from Glasgow to Stonehaven for about one week. From there I'm not sure how to continue- I would love to see cycle to the Eilean Donan castle but I'm not sure how feasible that is. I'm new at long distance cycling and trying to avoid very hilly routes. Also, I'll be using a touring bike. Does anyone know of a good route that leads there? I thought maybe to set out from Fort William or Inverness. Also, would there be any train access nearby for the return leg? If no such route exists, I'd be glad to get recommendations for other good scenic routes (about a week long) that start and end with rail access. Many thanks in advance! Ronen |

It's very picturesque, has some fantastic scenery and follows much of the train line - e.g. Glasgow, Pitlochry, Kingussie,Inverness. The route is only 220 miles, so can be easily done in 4-5 days. Also flatish in most parts. I've done it on a mountain bike, so if you have a hybrid or tourer it should be fairly straightforward. |
