Isle of Lindisfarne to Isle of Iona - Page 2

Joined: 19 Sep 2011 Posts: 4 Bike: | Hi everyone, Very new and inexperienced but have been thinking about making a trip from Lindisfarne to Iona. Aprox 250 miles. Any advice would be really appreciated regarding known cycle routes in Scotland (or where to find them online) / I'd love to hear from anyone who has made this trip / advice on achievable distances and realistic itineraries. I'm not really into stopping and staying or sightseeing, just the journey so am looking to accomplish it quite efficiently. Not sure about how to plan rest days either. Is it best to keep up momentum or rest every few days? I am reasonably fit, and cycle regularly but only commuting the 5 miles to work and back and gentle weekend excursions (15-20 miles). So this would represent my biggest challenge by some distance! Not used to cycling long distances on back to back days. Many thanks in advance for any pointers you can give me. Dan =] |
