As I'm new to the sport (but super keen to get going...) I am wondering if anyone could suggest any cycle clubs around the north lanarkshire area that I might look into. Assuming this is the ideal way to get more involved and get some mileage on thos brand new wheels? Any suggestions greatly appreciated, Gav :) |

They meet in torrance on a wednesday evening for confined events and training runs. They are a very friendly bunch (male and female) Sunday club runs are usually about 60 to 70 miles but newbies can come out and try it out and just drop off whenever you feel like it' usually they will coax you along as they are a real encouraging bunch. Go on to their website and catch up with the forum. Roryboy... |

Just wanted to thank you for the offer of the Glasgow NIghtingale club, had I not been told of my club I'd almost certainly have come out for a ride with you guys. Many thanks again, Best, Gavin |

Is the EK club road or mountain bikes and what is the pace like on the group rides, Likewise with the Glasgow Green club. Cheers |

They meet in EK (Morrisson's filling station, Greenhills road) every thursday night for kind of a casual evening run, nice relaxed pace with a wee hill at the end for a personal challenge :). Sunday morning's they're out for a longer ride, normally a few hours, but again a nice reasonably pace! I joined as a COMPLETE beginner, hadn't been on the bike a week! They were really welcoming and I didn't feel at all under pressure or out of my depth. They're a real friendly bunch and cater for all levels. They have a website to so check that out on google! Gav :) |

The only thing is, I work weekends and am at Uni during the week, and any that I've seen meet mostly on Sundays. Does anyone know of any that meet weekdays? Thanks, Julie :) |

I too have been looking at getting involved with a club for a couple of years now but never took the plunge. Let me know if you want to try the Glasgow Nightingales and I would be happy to ride out to torrance with you if you to have a go at one of theri club runs. Ive been cycling for a few years mainly commuting into city and the occational longer ride at weekends. Dave |
