Hi

can I use all types of roads to cycling in Scotland? I mean highways, etc..
If not - how to distinguish such roads on googlemaps?

Thanks!

Roman.

you cannot cycle on any motorways (M8, M9, M90 etc etc)
These are blue on most maps

you cannot cycle on some dual carriageways.
These look like motorways, but aren't.
These are usually sign-posted

if you use www.bikeroutetoaster.com and select the 'cycle' option it will plot routes for you on quiet roads

You definitely can't use the A726 road from East Kilbride to Paisley on the South to South West side of Glasgow, I unfortunately joined this road and had to get off it pretty quickly during my LEJOG.

I used that service (http://bikeroutetoaster.com), and it suggests me the B981 road for example (on the way from Edinburgh to Perth). I don't see almost any roadside there. Is that ok?
