Joined: 16 Jan 2009 Posts: 498 Bike: My Profile | depends if you want to go full on, or roughly round the coast the complete road route is 1,700 miles (one thousand, seven hundred!) sounds cheeky, but basically, keep the sea on your left (clockwise) or on your right (anticlockwise) use the ferries to get onto Arran, Mull & Skye. you could add in the Outer Hebrides too (additional to the 1,700 miles) get a map, and take all the outer-most roads and you will have circumnavigated the Country. Add in the dead ends to Cape Wrath, Applecross etc. if you're feeling energetic! depending on how fit you are, 100 miles a day is do-able. West Coast is the hardest. big ups and big downs, but the best scenery by far. I've done Oban up to Lochinver via Mull & Skye, but not the rest! |
