This loop begins at the roundabout where King Street meets St Machar Drive. From here head north along King Street and over the Bridge of Don onto Ellon Road. Follow Ellon Road to the roundabout at the Exhibition Centre where it meets the Parkway. Go straight on at the roundabout onto the short stretch of dual carrageway up to the next roundabout at Murcar Industrial Estate. Turn left here onto the B999 Aberdeen to Pitmedden Road and follow the road until you reach Potterton. Turn right at the junction across from the garage into Panmure Gardens. Stay on this road through, and out of, Potterton until it finishes at its junction with the road to Belhelvie. Turn left and carry on until you reach Belhelvie. Go past the junction with the B977 and on through the village until just about the end. At this point take the road on the left, follow this road until you reach a junction to the left at Causeyend farm which is signposted 4 Miles to Newmachar. Turn left here and continue on this road until it's end where it joins the B999. Turn left at the junction, then immediately right past the house on the corner. This takes you onto a fairly steep climb for about 600m. Once at the top continue on past the row of houses to your right, then down the hill past what used to be Kingseat hospital on the left. Follow the road uphill again past the stables on the left until you reach the junction at the end. Turn left here where you skirt round the edge of Newmachar and head down the hill. Continue down until the left turn before the garages into the road signposted for Scotstown. Follow this road all the way back towards Aberdeen until it reaches the Parkhill crossroads. Go straight on at the crossroads across the B977, which can be busy, so use caution. You are now on the B997 Scotstown road. Follow this until the junction to the right for Whitestripes and turn right onto this road. Carry on past Parkhill Forest until the next junction to the right for Grandholm. Turn right again here and follow this road until it ends at the Persley roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout and go across Persley Bridge to the next roundabout. Turn left onto Mugiemoss Road and follow this up to the Haudigan roundabout. Turn left onto Great Northern Road. Stay on Great Northern Road until the next roundabout where you turn left again down St Machar Drive. Carry on downhill back into Old Aberdeen and to where you started at the roundabout at King Street. |
