This is a very easy and pleasant route, that starts and finishes on the road, but mainly follows the river. There are no climbs and the landscape is nice along the river. It is on National '4', so there can be a lot of pedestrians, especially on the Sunday when I was riding.

This is a great beginners route however i would advise missing out the road section and just doing the Staines - Hampton or Hampton - Staines part along the cycle track.

Its flat, decent surface and lots of cafe's and nice pubs en route. Great for couples or families. Just bring £6 each for the river ferry (£3 each way) at Shepperton.

Also avoid doing this route at weekends when you will be stop start all the way as pedestrian traffic will be maximum. A great simple and fun ride that takes in the Thames with nothing to worry about! Perfect for a simple day out on the bikes! Lots of picnic sites en-route too!
