This is a reasonably flat road route, mainly on country roads. You can start at any point along the route. Pubs are always a good choice! Follow road out of Basingstoke towards Farleigh Road, B3046. Turn right towards the Candovers & then take first right onto Farleigh Lane and head towards Dummer village (NB The Queen Inn Pub on Down Street in Dummer is a good start/finish point too!). At Dummer, turn left onto Dummer Down Lane, heading towards Axford. At the T-Junction turn right toward North Waltham. Carefully cross A30 and take Frog Lane, to the left of the Wheatsheaf Pub, into North Waltham village. Stick to Frog Lane keeping to the left. Before it turns into Waltham Lane turn right towards Steventon. Cycle through Steventon & turn right back towards North Waltham keeping to Frog Lane. Take first left and go to the T-Junction at the end. Turn right heading back towards the Winchester Road, A30. Turn left onto the A30 towards Basingstoke. Then either stay on the A30, and go through Beggarwood back to the start. Or, if you started at the Queen Inn pub, you can cut the loop short by taking the right hand turn just after joining the A30 and go straight across the roundabout heading towards Dummer village again. |
