Round the back of Bradley Stoke estate, out along Trench Lane, up Perranpits and back along Winterbourne main road, turn right and then back along the top of Gipsey Patch to the locally known Mile Straight, past the new Filton College Campus and back into Filton. This is a fairly quiet route in the evenings although can get a bit hairy on a summers evening when the road is used more often. Wouldn't recommend taking the children as there are no pavements - most of the route is in country lanes. There are a number of variants to shorten or lengthen the route, the hills are only mild although in a good high gear can still give a bit of a burn. A great weightloss route which takes about an hour and 10 minutes! The road surface is moderately kind to the tyres, although in some places it pays to go wide due to the amount of repairs that have taken place. Do thios route in reverse for a 4-5/10 challenge as the hills are more challenging! |
