Start at forest gate in Burghead Beach Caravan Site, follow Burma Road (forest road) to Roseisle Forest picnic site (toilets). Follow Moray Coast Trail past Kinloss RAF base, (short sections of singletrack, nothing desperate) excellent views across Moray Firth. Follow marked trail towards wind turbines and on to Findhorn Foundation, excellent cafe. Retrace route to Burghead or if you want some tarmac go through Foundation onto cycle track by B9089 to Kinloss, Spar shop near junction. Caution on road past RAF station, farm shop and coffee shop on right past past RAF station main gate. Follow B9089 to sign for Roseisle Forest Picnic Site, from picnic site retrace begining of route to Caravan site. Shop and bars in Burghead village. Would most easily be done on a mountain bike or hybrid, fatter tyres an advantage for off road bits.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Burghead has historic pictish fort. Findhorn Foundation has interesting "green" buildings. Kinloss Abbey (ruin). Nearest bike shops, Forres and Elgin. |
