County Kilkenny is located in the south east region of Ireland in the Leinster province. A house dating back to the Neolithic period was found in a place named Granny, just outside Waterford, parts of which were carbondated to between 3997 and 3728 BC. A number of defensive round towers can be found around the county as well as two castles, Kilkenny Castle and Foulksrath Castle. Many churches and abbeys can be found in County Kilkenny along with one of Ireland's largest historic medieval monuments, Kells Priory. The county also has a limestone cave called Dunmore Caves that tourists may wish to visit.
