Start at Luncarty head towards Redgorton and turn right to Moneydie. Do not turn right again at Moneydie, instead follow the road on toward Chapelhill, Harrietfield and Buchanty. From Buchanty follow signs towards Crieff. This leads in to a glorious section of the route where the scenery and downhill make for a memorable run into Gilmerton. From here follow the route in towards Crieff but instead take the left down 'Highlandman loan'. This comes to a cross roads at which point you take the left toward Perth. This is a straight route now all the way in to the outskirts of Perth (West huntingtower). At the end of this road go straight across towards 'Huntingtower' and 'Inveralmond Industrial estate'. Follow on untill you get to the Mercedes car garage. Note: At this point there is a cycle route back to Luncarty which is necessary to avoid the dreaded A9!! Turn into the Mercedes garage and follow the road through to where there is a sign for Luncarty cycle route. Go under the A9 (bridge) and follow the route all the way back to the back roads of Luncarty and the very start point. Total length will be 37 miles approx. For the average cyclist please allow up to 3 hours for this trip. Fast paced cyclists should be closer to the 2 hour mark making it a fantastic Circular for building endurance and speed. If lunch is a requirement and/or a place to sit and eat Crieff is merely 1.5 miles from 'Highlandman loan'. There are plenty of Cafe's and shops for a pleasant stop. |
