1. This route is rated has an average 5 for a mountain bike, due to the flat and downhill sections at start and end of circuit.
This route also can be used by any other pedal bike.
From Sarn to Nant-y-moel the route is 7-8 miles of flat track, which is a section of the route 4 cycle track. This section is rated at about 2 difficulty because of the distance and flat ground. Should take between 30 mins to 1 hour.
The route 4 ends at Commercial Street where there is a set of steps, near Howell St. This set of steps leads to Station Rd where there is a difficult small hill climb to Bwlch-y-Clawdd Rd(A4061). Rated at 7. Saps energy from legs.
At this point there is a slight hill climb up to the top of the Bwlch for around about 2-3 miles. Rated as 5 due to hill climb, before and on track. 15-40 minutes.
Total Distance 10-11 miles at top of Bwlch.
At peak of the Bwlch turn left on to the A4107 to Abergwynfi. This is a 1mile long flat to 5 mile downhill section to Croeserw. This section is rated as 1 and should take 5-10 mins to complete.
Turn at Coronation Avenue and climb a difficult, half mile, hill to Maesteg Rd(A4603), via Eastern Avenue. Rated as 7. 10-15 mins
At the A4063 to Caerau there is another 9 mile downhill section to Tondu. Rated 1 and should take 20-30 mins.
At tondu turn onto A4065 Bryn Rd towards Heol-yr-ysgol and turn right back toward the circuit start. 1 mile . 10mins |
