1. This is a long and very hilly route. 115 miles with at least two dozen hills, two of which are 25% of an incline; and, one which is the longest downhill (or uphill depending on direction ridden) stretch of road in England (cragg vale).
The route includes hills such as: sheephouse lane (rivington);Edgerton Road (Belmont);Bolton Road (Turton -Edgeworth); Watling Road (Affetside); Outwood Road (Radcliffe), Ashworth Road, (Ashworth Vale), a stretch of the A58, out of Rochdale toward Halifax; Mytholm Steeps(25% - nr Hebden Bridge; Sharney Ford (Todmorden/Bacup); Rawson's Rake (25%-Ramsbottom); Moor Rd (Anglezarke, nr Rivington); again over Sheephouse lane; scout road and edge lane (Winter Hill, nr Rivington). |
