1. This route is 90% on Bridle paths travelling through farms countryside and dog kennels at one point. The majority is signposted, although the signs are small or overgrown so keep a keen eye. At some points you do have to join the main road, the most important part of which is the entrance to Savernake Forest on Salisbury Hill. I suggest this part of the route is not suitable for children, as the hill is very steep and really hard work as well as being quite busy.
Landmarks/Sites to see?
The villages of Chiseldon, Ogbourne St George and the town of Marlborough. Marlborough is full of useful amenities and if you enter Savernake through the camping site there is a camping/outdoor useful shop as well as free to use picnic and BBQ facilities. |
