1. The route starts in Ringwood at the start of the Castleman Trailway, which is an old railway line going from Ringwood to Upton, and most of it is a cycle route. This is why the route goes off-road. I am not sure the bit past West Moors is right on the map, but it is well signposted.
Do NOT attempt to cycle round the big roundabout just before you get into wimbourne, dismount and walk round! You leave the Castleman Trailway to go to Poole town centre.
The bit around Holes Bay is NOT on the road, it is on a cycle path. Then you go under the big juction by the Dolphin centre, through a bit of the town centre then onto another cycle path going around Parstone Bay.
After that, you go along Sandbanks Road to the Prom. Then there is a nice, flat cycle all the way along the Prom, past Bournemouth town centre and then through Christchurch town centre, going over the Stour, then the Avon.
Next you go through Stanpit and by-pass the roundabout. Then along quiet country lanes, through Bransgore, then on into Ringwood.
Then you can get back under the dual carriage way back to where you have parked (assuming that you did park there. |
