| 1. For this route I make my way from Blackley to Alan Turing Way where you can join Rochdale Canal. Be careful that you join the canal closest to Oldham Rd as the other one is Ashton Canal and that leads to a dead end in Droylesden.
You could even join Rochdale Canal in central Manchester if you wish to make the route longer. I followed the canal up to Stakehill industrial estate in Rochdale and then joined Rochdale Rd and followed it into Middleton and onto Manchester Old Rd through the Rhodes area towards Heaton Park.
Turn left down Blackley Old Rd and once you hit Blackley village if you Live in Blackley continue the route until you reach your own house. |

As a special note I would recommend that you use a mountain bike as the route along the canal can be quite bumpy. Even better use a sprung seat and front suspension.
