1. A cross country route on very minor roads, with a few small climbs once out into the Colne Valley. The route does join the A120 briefly, but nervous cyclists can cross the road and use the footpath. |

The route passes through the pretty villages of Great Tey and Chappel. It also passes Wakes Colne station which houses the East Anglian Raliway museum and hosts the Chappel beer festival. You can see the enormous viaduct at Chappel when crossing the road at Wakes Colne.
