| 1. A pleasant route through the New Forest using quiet country lanes, taking in great scenery around Lepe Country Park and Beaulieu estate. Some of the route can be undulating; there are a couple of little kicks up around Beaulieu.
The amounts of traffic differ on the roads in this route: around Totton down to Marchwood the roads can be regularly busy, but across the forest and between Marchwood and Beaulieu, Lepe and Calshot the roads are noticeably less busy.
The ride is great for leisure riders, but can also be a great training route if you ride around the course twice (80 odd miles). Some of the route can be subject to quite strong side and head winds in Autumn and Winter, mainly when you cross the Forest on Bealieu Rd and on the B3056, which aren't sheltered by trees. |
