| 1. Starting at New Brancepeth take the back lane through Broadgate up towards Ushaw College then ride along the tops with awesome views on either side through Esh and Quebec before travelling the old Roman road towards Castleside. Joining the A68 turn left and ride through Tow Law before taking the left fork at Sunny Brow for the crazy descent into Waterhouses then a nice flat ride in before the final climb back up Broadgate towards New Brancepeth. | |

| This route has PLENTY of hills and some are genuinely very tough though manageable if you grit your teeth. Incredible scenery during all parts of the ride with plenty of options to either cut short and head for home if it's a little too long but or too extend and pump up the milage if you need a little more!.
No bike shops on route but there are a few nearby eg. Meadowfield and Consett. Plenty of pretty country pubs offering reasonably priced meals too. |
