1. The third and final day of my Burgess Hill to Corfe Castle ride.
It starts off in the middle of the New Forest. The first hour or so is through the gentle hills and moorland of the Forest. Then down to Christchurch (where you should check out the famous Church that gave the town its name - see "the miraculous beam")
Then along the seafront past Bournemouth until you get to the chain-ferry at Sandbanks. This saves lots of time and means you can avoid some pretty busy roads through Southampton.
The biggest hills are at the end, when you climb up from Studland over to Corfe Caste. Stop before you climb at the National Trust beach at Studland - where you can get a much needed Isle of Purbek Icecream and a drink.
There are plenty of good pubs along the way for lunch. |
