| 1. This is a route that mixes off-road and road elements and has at least one awesome hill.
Head through Dorking Way and Charrinton Road into Calcot. Continue through and turn right into Ferhurst Road and follow it to the end of the Cul-de-Sac. Enter the field and follow the pathway through the fields to the railtrack and cross with care. Then across more fields and turn left to follow River Kennet. Go all the way through to the Oracle shopping centre and continue to follow the river all the way to the Horseshoe Bridge and cross. Turn left at he Thames and follow the river through to Caversham Rowing Club. Cross Caversham Bridge (A4155), and head up towards St Peters Hill (A4074). Chuck a left onto The Warren and follow this all the way to Mapledurham. Follow road to right up hill, at end of road turn left and follow the signs for Whitchurch Hill (awesome hill). Go down hill to Pangbourne, on B471, and follow signs for Tidmarsh on A340. Keep going over M4 bridge for another 1 1/2 to 2 miles, then turn left into Englefield Road. Take a left to Theale High Street, then up onto Bath Road, A4, back to the start. |
