1. Interesting views and history along the Shropshire Union Canal into Chester, once off the Canal you then divert into Chester past Chester racecourse and along the City Walls alongside the River Dee where you can stop and have a well deserved drink and eats from a few of the cafes or takeaway bistros along The Groves walkway. After a short stop here you will need it for the River Dee foot and cycle path once you have crossed the Handbridge footbridge with lovely views up and down the river. Once across the river you will need to disembark and walk a few steps down onto the footpath, you will then ride a short distance to a stile into the rough trail part of this ride, it is dirt track all the way with approx six more styles, these are not that difficult to tackle once you get the bike onto its back wheel. I loved this part of the ride as it was my first time off road(LOL). There is a small track that leads up to Eaton Road, that has the last stile. Turn right on Eaton Road and this will bring you through to Handbridge, you will then come to the juction of Eaton Road and Handbridge, turn right onto Handbridge and over Handbridge Bridge, here you will pick up the loop back along the Shropshire Union canal back to the Boat Museum. Hope you enjoy this route please leave feedback to let me know how you got on. ENJOY !! |
