1. A nice easy route on quiet roads from Witney to the Ferryman Inn.
From Witney follow the Curbridge Road (A4095), out of Witney to the roundabout, go straight over towards Curbridge and Bampton, follow this road over the bridge (disused railway line) and take the next left after approx 200 yrds.
Follow this single track lane to the end where you will get to a crossroads, only a slight hill to this point. Go straight over the crossroads and follow the road for about 200 yds, until you come to the road on the right signed for Cote. Follow this road to the end - not the best of surfaces at this time (Apr 2010) but a quiet road so you can dodge holes. At the end of this road turn left onto the Cote Road, B4449, heading towards Standlake. This road can get busy. Follow this road to Brighthampton and a T junction. Turn right at the T junction onto the Abingdon Road, A415, heading towards Kingston Bagpuize. This is a main road so traffic can be heavy. Follow this road until you get to the Rose Rivived Pub on the bridge and take the left, just before the pub, into Moreton Lane. This is a single track until you get to the village of Northmoor. Turn right towards Bablock Hythe, and follow the road to the next juction signed for the Ferryman Inn and turn right. The next bit of road is a dead end and leads you to the river Thames and of course the Feryyman. There are some small speedbumps down this road, which are unavoidable!
The Pub does great food and when its nice, you can sit beside the river and enjoy a pint! |
