1. This is a road route on a mix of A, B and country roads, with a variety of climbs and resulting fantastic views.
You start down to coastal road, A78, until you reach the Moor Road turnoff to the left. There follows a very steep and long climb up Moor Road, however, this is rewarded at the top with fantastic views across the Firth of Clyde. You then get a long descent into Dalry. There is also a gentle climb up to Haylie Bra Road.
From Dalry, you follow the B780, through Drakemyre, the B784, through South Hourat, and the A760, through Routdaneburn and past Camphill and Muirhead Reservoirs. This brings you back to the A78, where you turn right and head back to the start in Largs. |
