| 1. This is a mixed route on the Bristol - Bath Cycle Path and Bath to Bradford Canal towpath. The beginning part, going through Bristol is really the only section you have to watch out for cars and thankfully the city is comparitivey bike-friendly. Once on the Bristol-Bath cycle path the course remains flat and safe. The surrounding views do begin at the suburbs of Bristol, for a few miles, then become more rural after going through a long tunnel. A couple of miles later you cross over a main road then descend for about 500 meters. Although there are other tributary routes and divergences off, the main route to Bath is very clearly signposted. About halfway to Bath there is a section where you may have to watch out for large groups of schoolchildren and parents. Once in Bath the roads through the centre are more full of people than cars and once on the canal it is plain flat cycling all the way into Bradford! |

Bath has plenty of things to see if you have time- the Abbey, the Roman baths ect. Aside from the towns there are about three pubs directly on or next to the route: the bird in hand halfway between Bristol and Bath, the George at Bathampton (about 2 miles along the canal) and the Cross Guns at Avoncliff about a mile from the end
