1. This is a pleasant road route, on a mix of roads, that apart from the very first and last sections, does not suffer from too many cars. In the first half of the route there is a steady uphill climb, all the way to Houghton Tower. Then there is a fast downhill section, for a couple of miles, before changing to a sharp ascent from Roach Birdge. There is then a flat (but, usually against the wind push!) into Higher Walton!. | |
