Cycle Steps |
1. This route is a scenic, stroll in the park along well kept canal towpaths, for the most part surrounded by countryside and wildlife all the way. There are highland cows on the early stretch and numerous waterfowl. The canal must be left to hop over the road at the Royal Oak pub at Radcliffe then back on the towpath for miles of scenic relief. At Kearsley Park there is a single dirt-track downhill stretch to be negotiated to switch levels between two canal systems then - off we go again into Moswes Gate Park, the river, the ponds and the ducks. It is possible to reach my start point by staying in the park system - shorter and more scenic but I detoured through town using the roads to add a few miles and clean off the tyres. A thoroughly recommended evening jaunt. Took me 2 hrs or so steady pace. |
