1. This is a road route, on a mix of A and B roads, country lanes, parks and bridleways, but is mostly through small villages and quiet country roads. Although we took a wrong turn and ended up coming back on the A131 and not the back roads as planned. The route goes through some lovely villages and then into Great Notely Country Park. This offers a great place to stop for a while, either beside one of the lakes or at the visitors centre. We took our time and stopped for lunch at a pub en route The Green Man in Great Waltham. It took us about 3 and a half hours, including a 45 min break for lunch. Coming back into Chelmsford the route goes through Broomfield and via the river bridleway and nature reserve close to the Ruskin University. |
