Cycle Steps |
1. It's Sunday 22nd May and it's a scorcher. Time to hit the beach! I set off at noon (mad dogs etc lol) and made good progress to Parbold Hill where I stopped for ice cream yum. Off down the 14% gradient - what a rush, and away through the countryside along surprisingly good roads to Southport. The promenade was packed and after an ice lolly I cruised up and down the cylce lane a few times to "cool off" a bit haha! Parked up on a nature trail in the dunes for sunbathing for an hour or so then, ice cream and set off home. Uneventful until Parbold Hill where i managed 30% before exhausting even whimpy gear options and walked 300 metres past worst bit before remounting. Took a wrong turn later on and diverted through Wigan centre and Hindley before rejoining original route after West Houghton to continue a well worn path home & shower. |
