1. A circular route best suited to hybrid style bikes and touring bikes. A little off road track use. Hard to put route so please follow instructions. Bring food, spare clothing and drink. Tumble has nice shops, so is a good point to start.
Many shortcuts on route if its too tough going. Circular route showing interesting features. The bit I have not personally cycled around are the lanes around Paxtons tower and towards the Botanical Gardens, so I have put the route I believe to be best. Will go there when I can! If cyclists wish, they can also visit Dryslwyn Castle.
Its nice up there and not too far off route! Hope you have fun. This route is more for a fit person rather then a beginner. Beginners, however should follow part of the route to the quarry, and go back from there! (Maybe on the way back calling in at CrossHands where there is a Mc Donalds etc! |
Nearest bike shop. County Cycles, CrossHands. Near the main roundabout. Slightly off route, but very close. Shops in Tumble and CrossHands. (Crosshands is just off route).
Lots of places of interest. Llyn Llech Owain (Lake), T.V. transmitter, Quarry and turlough and cave system with a legend (Do not attempt to explore caves! Very tight I'm told!)
From top of quarry, views of Carreg Cennan Castle. Country Park and mansion house of Gelli Aur (Golden Grove). Paxtons Folly. Occasional views in this area of Dryslwyn Castle. Chance to visit the Botanical Gardens of Wales. Tumble woodland park.
