1. This route is the first of a two part section which follows the route of the Transpennine Trail from Stockport to Doncaster train stations.
This first part takes you from Stockport, along through the city centre to join the Transpennine Trail. This will take you through Haughton Green and Hyde mainly on disused railway lines and residential areas.
The section then becomes countryside as you follow the reservoirs along Longendale Trail before ending the journey at Woodhead station in Derbyshire where you can see the three now disused transpennine Woodhead tunnels. |

Landmarks/Sites to see? |
There are plenty of things to see on the first largely urban section before approaching the reservoirs. It's best to stock up at shops on route before you leave Hadfield.
