| 1. The 3rd day of our charity bike ride to the Picos de Europa mountains in Northern Spain. For more info see www.picosriders.org.uk.
Leave San Vicente heading west on the N634, and crossing a large river (Rio Nansa) head north on the CA380, towards Pechon. The CA380 does a circuit of the Pechon peninsular, returning to join the N621. The views of the coast and Nansa estuary on the east side, and Deva estuary on the west side are magnificent! The N621 heads west before turning south (inland). At this point go west onto the AS344 which takes you into the Principality of the Asturias and crosses the Rio Diva.
Continue through Colombres (see the big houses built with money from the Americas) on the AS344. At Villanueva take the AS343 west. Follow this long and tortuous road as it winds its way between the hills on either side, until eventually you come to the main N634. Go west on the N634 for a short distance and take a right turn to Andrin. Go through the village to join the minor road LLN2. This takes you ENE and then NW around the Llanes golf course and soon into the coastal resort of Llanes.
We stay here overnight before heading into the Picos. |
