Cycle Steps |
1. This is a road route, mainly on A and B roads, with uphill or downhills dependant on the direction in which it is tackled.
Going via Shevington, Orell and Newton (Anti-clockwise) there is a gentle uphill on winding Woodhouse Drive and Wigan Lower Road to Shevington. This changes to a severe uphill on Gathurst Road, under the railway bridge. It's then back to a gentle uphill to Orrell Post. There is a bit of e restbite as the road goes flat to slight downhill down the A577 Orrell Road/ Ormskirk Road to Newtown as far as Saddle Junction. It is then flatish back to start point.
If you reverse the route (Clockwise) the Orell to Shevington section becomes easy downhill runs. |
