Cycle Steps |
1. Several steep climbs, generally on quiet roads, with a corresponding number of long descents - so check your brakes before setting off.
Head out, from the Fox House, Hathersage Road (A6187), down the B6521 past the Longshaw Estate into Grindleford. Climb out of Grindleford, still on the B6521, and join the B6521 for a drop into Eyam. Eyam to Tideswell is pretty painless, whereas, the section from Tideswell to Buxton has at least three climbs. The route back via the A6 has one long climb up and then the very very long descent down to Ashford.
The Monsal trail offers a welcome level stretch, albeit short-lived, before a brief climb on the run to Grindleford. This is followed by a descent to the river and then the climb back up to the Fox House.
We took the time to get lunch and have a look around Buxton. |
