| 1. This is a road route, mainly on rural roads, but with a finish on A roads, that has a bit of undulation.
Start at the BP Garage on East Mains Road, B783. Cycle to Markethill Road and follow this through Rodgerton and head towards Carmunock. Approach Carmunock on the B759, Cathkin Road, then turn left into Waterside Road and second left into Kittochside Road. Cycle past the Museum of Country Life and down a steep hill, then climb back up again on Glen Road towards the rear of the Holiday Inn Hotel. On approaching the A726, dual carriageway, turn left and cycle on pavement towards roundabout. Go round and head towards Thorntonhall, leaving the A726 at the Peel Road roundabout. Go through Thorntonhall and follow the signpost for Waterfoot. Once past the huge house on the right, follow the signposts for Eaglesham. Then follow signpost for Peel Road and Jackton. Go towards main road, B764, and cycle past Strathclyde Police College. Take first left, at childrens play park in Jackton, onto Jackton Road. Follow Jackton Road, Burnhouse Road and Auldhouse Road, as shown on the map, following signposts for East Kilbride then Auldhouse. At Auldhouse take the first right, at the Pub, into Cleughearn Road. Follow the road to the junction and turn left, into Millwell Road, then take the first left, into Hurlawcrook Road, towards Langlands Golf course. Follow the road towards East Kilbride. Turn right onto Greenhills Road, and then at main road, A726, turn left going past Calderglen Park. Follow signposts for Glasgow, onto A725, and at the Whirlies rounabout turn left onto the B783 and head back to the start. |
