1. This is a family friendly, pretty, mixed route of roads, country lanes and cycle paths, with the majority on cycle paths.
The route initially heads round by Andrews Park and across the B1008 into Fifth Avenue. At the end of Fifth Avenue you join the Avenues Cycle Path, which takes you round past Anglia Ruskin University and on into Waterloo Lane. It is then road for a short section to New London Road. Just past Bellmead you turn off right back onto a cycle path. This initially goes through Central Park and follows the river, before splitting away through West Park and ending up at Lawford Lane. You then follow country lanes until you turn right, at Writtle College, onto Lordship Road. At the end of this it's right again onto Roxwell Road, A1060. Follow this back into suburbs and take a left into Chignall Road. From here it's suburban roads round past Melbourne Park and back to the start.
As an option, rather than heading up North Avenue, and going round by Andrews Park, you can cut the corner and head along Kings Road towards to B1008. You can then either turn onto First Avenue and join the avenues Cycle path for a shorter route into town, or go up to 5th Avenue and join the circular route past another couple of Play areas. |
