1. This a good, bad weather, night time, route as it uses largely quiet roads and cycle paths. I find it OK with cheap lights, even during rain.
I Start out near North Avenue church and head North to Melbourne Avenue, then left onto Chignal Road. At the traffic lights at the end, turn right, briefly onto the busy Roxwell Road, A1060, then off onto Roxwell Avenue. Down the end of the Cul de sac and onto the Admirals Park Cycle path.
Head on into town Via Admirals park then Central park. A quick hop across London road and up to the High Street, dismount to cross and head past the cinema along the Canal up to the Old wooden bridge by Tesco direct (ex. Homebase). Follow the Chelmer village cycle path around to the old play area then left round it to Ruskin Road.
Head up Ruskin Road, then over Byron Road onto Shelley Road. In the corner of the Shelley Road loop is another cycle path that heads up to Springfield Park Road.
Head towards town along Trinity Road then cut across Springfield Road, B1137, (can be busy) then up Meadowside to another cycle path.
Follow the cycle path up to Arun Close Sports field and across to 5th Avenue.
Head down the Avenues Cycle path to First Avenue, then up to Broomfield Road, B1008. Cross over to Kings Road then back onto North Avenue to finish. |
